PSHE

Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education

Our schools are committed to ensuring that young people have the opportunity to develop the knowledge and skills needed in order to understand the emotional, social, and physical aspects of growing up.

Some of these are explored through Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) which forms part of the larger PSHE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic) curriculum and school culture. RSE strives to offer children and young people the knowledge and skills needed to make informed choices, and to enjoy safe and healthy relationships throughout their lives.

We also understand that decisions regarding your child’s education are personal and often reflect individual family values and beliefs. While we value the opportunity to support the development of children and young people using the RSE advisory curriculum, we respect the right of parents and carers to make decisions in the best interest of their child. Parents/carers do have the right to request their child be withdrawn from any of the lessons in the RSE curriculum. In order to exercise this right, parents/carers should first contact their child's school to discuss their concerns.

Should you have any questions or concerns about the RSE lessons being delivered, we ask that you contact the school directly, and staff will be more than happy to discuss this with you further.
