PSHE

Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education

Our schools are committed to ensuring young people receive information to help them understand the emotional, social, and physical aspects of growing up.

Some of these are explored through Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) which forms part of the larger PSHE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic) curriculum and school culture. RSE strives to offer children and young people the knowledge and skills needed to make informed choices, and to enjoy safe and healthy relationships throughout their lives.

We also understand that decisions regarding your child’s education are personal and often reflect individual family values and beliefs. While we value the opportunity to support the development of children and young people using the RSE advisory curriculum, we respect the right of parents and carers to make decisions in the best interest of their child.

Should you have any questions or concerns about the RSE lessons being delivered in your child's school, we ask that you contact the school directly, and staff will be more than happy to discuss this with you further.

The Department of Education, Sport, and Culture are planning to hold a series of parent engagement sessions from September 2024, and more details will be forthcoming.
